The Wind

Victor Sjöström · 1928 CE · Film · Modern / American · Modernist

A sheltered Virginia woman comes to live on the West Texas prairie, where the ceaseless wind and an unwanted marriage wear her sanity thin. Sjöström adapts Dorothy Scarborough's 1925 novel, absent from this archive, and Lillian Gish's performance closes the American silent era at its height — released just as sound swept the medium aside.
