This Side of Paradise

F. Scott Fitzgerald · 1920 CE · Novel · Modern / American · Modernist

Amory Blaine, handsome and certain of his own promise, goes from a Midwestern boyhood to prep school and then Princeton, where clubs, verse and talk that runs till dawn matter more than examinations. The war interrupts him, and afterwards a Baltimore debutante makes him understand exactly what having no money means. Assembled from stories, letters and stretches of playscript, Fitzgerald's first book made him famous at twenty-three and gave the postwar generation its first look at itself.
