Top Gun: Maverick
Thirty-six years on, a test pilot who has refused every promotion that would ground him is ordered back to the weapons school to prepare a detachment of graduates for a canyon strike nobody rates their chances in, and one of the twelve is the son of the flyer whose death he still carries. Kosinski put the cast in the back seats of real F-18s rather than on effects stages, which is why the faces load with the aircraft. Widely credited with bringing audiences back to theatres after the pandemic closures, it was nominated for Best Picture and won for sound.
