Top Gun

Tony Scott · 1986 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A hot-shot Navy pilot with a dead father's reputation to live down is sent to the fighter weapons school at Miramar, where the ranking hangs on the wall and one instructor is a civilian astrophysicist. He flies against the school's best, loses his nerve after a flat spin over the Pacific, and has to work out whether he can still be trusted on a wing. Scott's gloss set the look of the 1980s blockbuster.
