Traveller of the Century

Andrés Neuman · 2009 CE · Novel · Spanish · Contemporary

A translator named Hans arrives in the invented German town of Wandernburg in the 1820s and is held there by a love affair and a circle of conversations, readings and political quarrels. The town stands in for a Europe of restoration and nostalgia. Born in Buenos Aires and settled in Granada, Neuman won both the Alfaguara and the Spanish critics' prizes for it.
