A Wild Sheep Chase

Haruki Murakami · 1982 CE · Novel · Japanese · Contemporary

A Tokyo advertising copywriter, adrift after a divorce, prints a friend's snapshot of a Hokkaido meadow in a company bulletin and is summoned by the secretary of a dying political fixer, who gives him a month to find one animal in it: a sheep with a star on its back that enters men and uses them. He goes north with a girlfriend whose ears are her living. The third of the Rat books and the one that carried Murakami abroad, it runs a hardboiled detective frame at a case that will not close.
