Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.

Kelly Fremon Craig · 2023 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

An eleven-year-old is moved from Manhattan to the New Jersey suburbs in 1970, falls in with a secret club of girls keeping score of who is growing up fastest, and keeps a running private address to a God that neither of her parents' abandoned faiths has claimed her for. Fremon Craig gives the mother and the grandmother arcs of their own and holds the frankness about bodies and belief that the source is known for. It comes from Judy Blume's 1970 novel, which is not held in this archive and which Blume declined to license for half a century.
