Borom Sarret
A cart driver works one day in Dakar hauling whatever the city hands him: bricks, a pregnant woman, a dead infant to a cemetery he may not enter, a passenger bound for the colonial quarter where carts are forbidden. A griot sings his praises and takes his only fare. Twenty minutes long, and generally counted the first film directed by a Black African in Africa.
