Cabaret

Bob Fosse · 1972 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

An English girl singing at a Berlin nightclub in 1931 takes in a lodger giving language lessons, and the two are drawn into the orbit of a rich baron with room for both of them. Between scenes the club's master of ceremonies performs numbers that comment on what is happening in the streets. Fosse confined every song to the stage, and won the directing Academy Award in the year The Godfather took Best Picture.
