Funny Girl

William Wyler · 1968 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A girl from the Lower East Side with none of the looks a chorus line wants talks her way into vaudeville by making the audience laugh, and is picked up by Florenz Ziegfeld for his Follies. Success on Broadway runs alongside a marriage to a gambler whose luck and pride move the wrong way. Barbra Streisand carried her stage role over and won the Academy Award in the leading category's only tie.
