Valley of the Dolls

Mark Robson · 1967 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

Three women arrive in show business in the same season — a secretary out of New England, a singer with a wrecked family, a model with a body and no talent — and pills carry all three through the schedule. Contracts, a Broadway star well past her prime and a sanatorium mark out the stages. Savaged by reviewers and enormously profitable, it has since been absorbed as camp, the definitive Hollywood-on-Hollywood melodrama.
