The Desperate Hours

William Wyler · 1955 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

Three men out of the Indiana state penitentiary pick a brick house in a quiet Indianapolis suburb to sit in while a girlfriend wires money, and tell the family inside to go about the day and say nothing. The father drives to the office, the daughter keeps a date, and the ringleader watches the telephone in the hall. Wyler cast Humphrey Bogart as a convict holding a household hostage nineteen years after The Petrified Forest.
