Eastern Concealment

Zong Pu · 2001 CE · Novel · Chinese · Contemporary

As Japan invades, the families and faculty of a Beijing university move south to Kunming and try to keep teaching and living as scholars in exile. The novel follows them through bombings, shortages and shifting loyalties. It is the second volume of Zong Pu's Wild Gourd Pavilion tetralogy, whose first volume, Southern Remembrance, is not held here.
