Gaslight
George Cukor · 1944 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary
A young singer marries her accompanist after a fortnight in Italy and is brought back to the London house where her aunt was strangled ten years earlier. Her husband moves her belongings and denies it, keeps callers from the door, and tells her the dimming gas lamps she notices are imaginary. Ingrid Bergman won the first of her Oscars, and the title entered the language as a name for the method.
