Klute
Alan J. Pakula · 1971 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary
A small-town detective comes to New York looking for a missing friend and works back from an obscene letter to a call girl who half-remembers the man who wrote it. She auditions for parts she never gets, tells a therapist why the work suits her, and is taped by someone through her apartment wall. Fonda won the Academy Award, and Pakula went on to make the decade's paranoid thrillers.
