Mary Poppins
The east wind blows a woman up Cherry Tree Lane, and she takes charge of the four Banks children on the condition that she may leave when it changes. She slides up the bannister, takes tea on the ceiling with an uncle who laughs himself off the ground, buys gingerbread stars from a shopkeeper older than anyone alive, and denies afterwards that any of it happened. Travers's nanny is vain, brisk and cold, and her magic comes without explanation.
