Moon Palace
Paul Auster · 1989 CE · Novel · Modern / American · Contemporary
Marco Stanley Fogg spends his dead uncle's legacy down to nothing, eats his way through the boxes of books that came with it and is evicted into Central Park in the summer of the first moon landing. Taken in, he goes to work reading aloud to a blind old man who is dictating his memoirs, and the old man's account of a nineteenth-century painter lost in the Utah desert starts to converge on Fogg's own missing family. Three generations of American fathers and sons, assembled backwards.
