Rain Man

Barry Levinson · 1988 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A Los Angeles car importer learns at his father's funeral that the estate has gone to a brother he did not know he had, an autistic man who has spent his life in an institution outside Cincinnati. He takes him out of the ward as leverage and drives him west, bound by fixed mealtimes, a television schedule and a refusal to fly. Levinson's road picture took four Academy Awards and shaped how a generation pictured autism.
