Rocky

John G. Avildsen · 1976 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A club fighter in Philadelphia collects debts for a loan shark, keeps turtles, and courts the shy woman from the pet shop, having long since been written off by the gym that trained him. The heavyweight champion, short of an opponent for a bicentennial exhibition, picks his name out of a record book for the nickname. Stallone wrote it in days and refused to sell unless he could play the part.
