Scarface
A poor young man disfigured by a scar is refused by the girl he wants unless he can bring back the Sun's permission to marry her, so he walks west until the land runs out and crosses the water to the Sun's lodge. He saves Morning Star from the great birds, and in return the Sun lifts the scar off his face and sends him home with the pattern of the medicine lodge and the songs that go with it. Blackfoot oral tradition and the charter for the Okan, the Sun Dance, recorded by George Bird Grinnell in Blackfoot Lodge Tales in 1892.
