Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

David Hand · 1937 CE · Film · Modern / American · Modernist

A queen who consults a mirror about her own rank orders her stepdaughter killed; the girl escapes into the woods and keeps house for seven miners while the queen works up a disguise and an apple. Disney spent three years and the studio's entire credit on it, developing the multiplane camera and rotoscoping live actors for a feature the rest of Hollywood expected to fail. The first cel-animated feature in English, and the film that made animation a commercial art form.
