The Adventures of Robin Hood

Michael Curtiz & William Keighley · 1938 CE · Film · Modern / American · Modernist

With Richard held for ransom abroad, a Saxon knight walks into Prince John's banquet with a poached deer on his shoulders, then takes to Sherwood with archers, a friar and a miller's son, robbing the tax convoys crossing his forest. Curtiz stages the archery tournament and the stair duel in three-strip Technicolor over Korngold's score. Warner's costliest production to that date, and the measure for swashbucklers ever since.
