A scholarship student from the Boston suburbs spends June 1953 as a guest editor at a New York fashion magazine, going to banquets and photo shoots while the Rosenbergs are executed and she cannot decide what she wants. Home for the summer she is refused a writing course, stops sleeping, and is handed to a psychiatrist who prescribes shock treatment. Published under the name Victoria Lucas a month before Plath died.
