The Quiet Girl
Sent away for the summer from a crowded, indifferent farmhouse, a silent nine-year-old is left with distant relatives in the Waterford Gaeltacht who feed her, wash her hair and answer when she speaks. Colm Bairéad works from Claire Keegan's novella Foster, which this archive does not hold. Made in Irish on a small budget, it took seven Irish Film and Television Awards and became the first Irish entry nominated for the Academy Award for Best International Feature.
