The Tree of Life

Terrence Malick · 2011 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

Word reaches a Texas family that one of their three sons has died, and the eldest, now a middle-aged architect in a glass city, spends the day inside the memory of a childhood divided between a father who taught that the world yields to force and a mother who taught that it yields to grace. Between those rooms the film opens out to the formation of the planets and the ocean floor. Malick's fourth feature in forty years.
