Tiepolo's Hound
Derek Walcott · 2000 CE · Poem · Caribbean · Contemporary
Walcott follows the painter Camille Pissarro, born on St Thomas in the Danish West Indies, from the island to Paris and the Impressionist circle. Alongside him runs the poet's own search for a hound glimpsed in a Veronese canvas, and his own watercolours appear on the page. A book-length poem in loose couplets, it was Walcott's major work of the decade after his Nobel Prize.
