Wonderful Flavor

Amy Yamada · 2005 CE · Short Story · Japanese · Contemporary

Six stories of blue-collar young men, each framed by a grandmother who adores Elvis Presley. Their lives of work, casual love and small defeats are told in a loose, spoken Japanese. The collection won the Tanizaki Prize for Yamada, known earlier for her fiction about African American men in Japan.
