As Good as It Gets

James L. Brooks · 1997 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A Manhattan romance novelist with obsessive compulsive disorder insults everyone he meets, eats at the same table every day, and is left minding the dog of the gay painter across the hall after a robbery puts the man in hospital. The waitress who tolerates him has an asthmatic son and no money for his treatment. Brooks won lead acting Oscars for both Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt.
