Blow-Up
Michelangelo Antonioni · 1966 CE · Film · Italian · Contemporary
A fashion photographer spends a London morning buying junk in an antique shop and drifting into a quiet park, where he shoots a couple among the trees from behind a fence. The woman follows him to his studio and demands the roll; he prints the frames, enlarges them, and pins the sequence up until a shape starts to come out of the grass. Antonioni's first film in English took the Palme d'Or and made the act of enlargement itself the subject.
