Chang'e Flies to the Moon

An archer is rewarded with an elixir of immortality for shooting down the nine suns that were burning the earth, and leaves it in the keeping of his wife Chang'e. She swallows it - in some tellings to keep it from a thief, in others out of her own longing - and rises past the reach of the ground. A wife exiled forever to the moon her husband watches.
