A mestizo, the son of a conquistador, joins the 1541 expedition that went in search of the Land of Cinnamon, and with Pizarro's brother's party and Orellana he descends into the Amazon. The expedition's greed and hunger meet a forest that offers neither. The second part of Ospina's trilogy, it won the Romulo Gallegos Prize.
