Trinidad Pineda Chinas, a railway worker's wife, comes to the 1958-59 strike of Mexican railwaymen led by Demetrio Vallejo and sees what it costs the strikers and their families. Poniatowska draws on testimony in the documentary manner of her earlier Massacre in Mexico. It won the Romulo Gallegos Prize in 2007 and has not been translated into English.
