Spartacus

Stanley Kubrick · 1960 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A Thracian slave sold to a gladiator school in Capua is trained to kill for private audiences, and one refusal in the arena turns the barracks into a revolt that draws tens of thousands across Italy. Rome's factions manoeuvre against each other while the slave army marches for a coast and ships that may not come. Kirk Douglas put Dalton Trumbo's name on the credits, the act generally taken to have broken the blacklist.
