Lolita
Stanley Kubrick · 1962 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary
A European professor rents a room in a New England widow's house because of her adolescent daughter, and marries the mother in order to stay near the girl. A long motel tour of America follows, shadowed by a dramatist who keeps reappearing under new names, new accents and new disguises. Censorship forced Kubrick to age the girl and work by innuendo, which tipped the whole thing toward comedy.
