Paths of Glory
Stanley Kubrick · 1957 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary
A French general orders an impossible attack on a German position in 1916, and when it fails he demands that men be tried for cowardice. Three soldiers are picked more or less at random, and their colonel, a lawyer in peacetime, defends them at the court-martial. The machinery of honor run in reverse.
