Rabbit Is Rich

John Updike · 1981 CE · Novel · Modern / American · Contemporary

The petrol shortage of 1979 has been good to Harry Angstrom, who runs his late father-in-law's Toyota dealership, belongs to the country club and keeps his savings as gold and silver coins in a safe-deposit box. His son quits college and moves home with a pregnant girlfriend, and the house is not large enough for two men who each believe they own it. The middle Rabbit book took the Pulitzer, the National Book Award and the Critics Circle prize.
