Secret Sunshine

Lee Chang-dong · 2007 CE · Film · Korean · Contemporary

A young widow moves with her small son to her dead husband's hometown of Miryang to start over as a piano teacher, and a second, crueler loss drives her through evangelical conversion toward the limits of what forgiveness can mean. Adapted from Yi Chong-jun's story The Story of a Worm, it won Jeon Do-yeon the Cannes best-actress prize and fixed Lee Chang-dong's standing as Korean cinema's moral novelist.
