Sense and Sensibility

Ang Lee · 1995 CE · Film · English · Contemporary

English inheritance law hands a Sussex estate to a half-brother, and three sisters and their mother are turned out to a Devon cottage on a small income, where courtship becomes an economic calculation. The elder keeps her attachment private while the younger broadcasts hers, and both are punished for it. Emma Thompson spent five years on the script and won an Academy Award for it.
