Shakespeare in Love
A debt-ridden young Shakespeare, blocked on a comedy called Romeo and Ethel the Pirate's Daughter, finds his muse in a gentlewoman who disguises herself as a boy to act on the Elizabethan stage. Stoppard and Norman's screenplay turns the writing of Romeo and Juliet into romantic comedy, and it took seven Oscars including Best Picture.
