The Hurt Locker

Kathryn Bigelow · 2008 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A bomb disposal team in Baghdad loses its leader in the opening minutes and is given a replacement who walks up to devices in the suit where the robot would do, pulls off his headset and keeps a box of salvaged detonators under his bunk. His two subordinates count down the days left in the rotation while he looks for work off the schedule. Bigelow became the first woman to win the directing Oscar, over the year's biggest grosser.
