The King and I
A Welsh widow lands at Bangkok in 1862 with her small son, engaged to teach the royal children English, and learns that the house she was promised stands inside the palace walls. The king wants his court modernised without being contradicted in front of it, and she will not stop asking for her own door key. Yul Brynner, who had done it more than a thousand times on Broadway, took the Oscar.
