The Line of Beauty
Alan Hollinghurst · 2004 CE · Novel · English · Contemporary
Nick Guest, a young gay Oxford graduate, lodges in the Notting Hill home of the Feddens, a Conservative MP's family, across the Thatcher years from 1983 to 1987. He is drawn into money, cocaine and Downing Street parties while the AIDS epidemic gathers. A comedy of manners in the Jamesian tradition, it won the 2004 Booker Prize.
