The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry · 1943 CE · Novel · French · Contemporary

A pilot down in the Sahara with a broken engine and eight days of water is woken at dawn by a small boy who asks him to draw a sheep. Between attempts at the repair the boy describes the asteroid he left, a rose he tended and quarrelled with, and the grown-ups he met on the worlds he crossed on the way to Earth. Saint-Exupéry wrote it in New York exile, and it is among the most translated books ever published.
