The Magnificent Ambersons

Orson Welles · 1942 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

The richest family in a midland town raises a grandson insufferable by design, and when the inventor his mother refused comes back rich from automobiles, the boy sets himself against the match and the century. Welles shoots the ball as one long crane move through the house and lets the narration count what the town gives up. RKO cut forty minutes and shot new material while he was in Brazil; the cut footage was destroyed.
