Tokyo Island

Natsuo Kirino · 2008 CE · Novel · Japanese · Contemporary

Kiyoko and her husband are shipwrecked on an uninhabited Pacific island during a cruise for their twentieth anniversary, and twenty-three young Japanese men fleeing hard labour wash up after them. As the only woman among dozens of castaways, she finds the order they build bending around her. Kirino, known for crime fiction, turned to the castaway story here and won the Tanizaki Prize.
