WALL-E
Seven centuries after the last people left, a waste-compacting robot is still cubing the rubbish on an empty Earth, hoarding salvaged curiosities and replaying a musical at night in a container he has made into a home. A probe arrives looking for living plant matter, and what he has to show her sets the surviving human fleet moving. Stanton carried the first act almost without dialogue, and the film's account of consumption and physical inertia has kept it in critical circulation well past its release.
