Winnie-the-Pooh

A. A. Milne · 1926 CE · Novel · English · Modernist

A boy's toy bear, brought downstairs bump by bump behind him, lives in a forest with a gloomy donkey, an anxious piglet, a managing rabbit and an owl who cannot spell. He rises to a bee tree under a balloon, eats himself stuck in a doorway, and joins an expedition to find a Pole that nobody present can define. Milne wrote it for his son and spent the rest of his life resenting how completely it eclipsed his plays.
