Amaterasu and the Cave
After her brother wrecks her rice fields and her weaving hall, the sun goddess shuts herself inside a rock cave and the world goes dark. The other gods gather at the entrance, hang a mirror and jewels on a tree, and set a goddess dancing until the whole assembly is roaring. Curiosity does what force cannot, in the myth that seats the sun at the head of the imperial line.
