Moominland Midwinter

Tove Jansson · 1957 CE · Novel · Nordic · Contemporary

One January a young troll wakes while his family sleeps on, and finds the valley buried under a season nobody described to him, tenanted by creatures who live only in it — a squirrel, a solitary girl in the bathing house, a silent guest by the fire. Too-ticky teaches him the rules of the cold, and that the world is full of things that are one thing in summer and another in winter. The bleakest of the Moomin books.
