America America

Elia Kazan · 1963 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

In 1890s Anatolia a young Greek entrusted with his family's goods sets out for Constantinople and then America, paying for the passage with every scruple he has. Kazan filmed his own 1962 book, absent from this archive, about his uncle's emigration, and the harsh immigrant odyssey is his most personal film.
